Author's Review
Tori Amos has come to a point in her life in which life is pretty good. Those who can't relate won't relate. For those open-minded enough to understand, this cd is a treat. In my opinion, The Beekeeper is Tori's best yet. Yes, the sound is much more structured than the early cd's, but how is this a bad thing? And since when does structure make something automatically mainstream? Lyrically, this is Tori at her best. The political themes are relevant and pleasantly indirect, as Tori often is. For me, listening to this cd is like reading a book you just can't put down. Unlike anything Tori has ever done, the heart and soul on this cd are addictive. Though not as raw as the earlier cd's, The Beekeeper is a musical journey through love, loss, war, and peace. If I had children and had to give them one thing or object in order to explain the meaning of life, I would give them The Beekeeper.
