Pele, the Apiary Tender // A Review of "The Beekeeper" by Tori Amos

by   kabitat ,  May 17, 2005
Pros: Unbelievably beautiful music, clear vocals, and a message of growth and contentment.
Cons: None at all. The 80 minute length is a pro to me.
The Bottom Line: An Album that redefines the term 'Masterpiece', this CD is one that everyone needs in their collection. Brilliant.
Review: Tori Amos has chosen the most perfect song to open her album “The Beekeeper”. Entitled ‘Parasol’, it sets the tone for one of the most well-produced and beautifully delivered albums of the decade. As she whispers “When I come to terms with this, my world ...

Jump in! The water's fine!

by   tedluk ,  Mar 1, 2005
Pros: 80 minutes of magic from a very special artist!
Cons: While more accessible, this CD will still confuse the majority of the listening public.
The Bottom Line: Tori isn't for everyone (too bad), but, in time, I believe this will stand with her best work. Get it! GET IT! GET IT!!!
Review: Well, here we are again...A new Tori CD and a new crop of reviews from disgruntled listeners who still think it's 1992. Guess what? It's 2005! Tori is all grown up. She's not going to make another Little Earthquakes. I wonder if da Vinci was criticized ...

Lush, intelligent and important, Tori Amos is still the leader of female singer/songwriters!

by   paganpoet ,  Mar 3, 2005
Pros: Intelligent lyrics dealing with important themes, beautiful melodies and vocals, thought provoking concept.
Cons: none, this really is an exceptional album.
The Bottom Line: This album shows that music can be intelligent, poignant and accessible.
Review: With an impressive back catalogue from 1992's exceptional debut 'Little Earthquakes', 1998's harrowing 'From The Choirgirl Hotel' and 2002's 'Scarlet's Walk', a sonic novel based upon a road trip across the whole of America, one comes to expect alot from ...

Finally...

by   metrojoe82 ,  Mar 3, 2005
Pros: Tori's finest work since "Pele"
Cons: That it's not a double-album...
The Bottom Line: This is Tori's finest work since "Boys for Pele" and its mellowness isn't indicative of a lack of edge, but rather an assured sense of maturity.
Review: Tori Amos has finally crafted an album with all the fierce beauty and passion of "Boys for Pele" and "from the choirgirl hotel" with the accessible sound she (perhaps over-) perfected with 2002's "Scarlet's Walk." The result is a gorgeous opus dealing ...

Honey never tasted (sounded) so sweet...

by   mupecume ,  Mar 5, 2005
Pros: Tracks 1 thru 19...
Cons: "Barons of Suburbia" has a bit of a weird structure, kind of un-Tori-like...
The Bottom Line: When it comes to melodic excelence, Tori Amos is state-of-the-art.
Review: After exploring the vastness of the North American continent with "Scarlet's Walk", Tori Amos now leads us into a much more sheltered corner of her psyche with "The Beekeeper". Here the grandeur of Scarlet's themes, laden with political issues, gives in ...

Tori's Enchanting Garden

by   valkin ,  Mar 2, 2005
Pros: always different than the album before; beautiful songs.
Cons: none.
The Bottom Line: Tori's new album is wonderful and a completely different experience than her other albums.
Review: I was excited to get my ears on Tori's latest album, "The Beekeeper," a luscious, 80 minute album made up of 19 songs divided into six "gardens" (inspired by the six-cells of a honeycomb). I was not disappointed. The songs on this album are lush and ...

Sweetest Honey of them all...

by   scrmis ,  Mar 3, 2005
Pros: More than 15 songs, longer than 2 minutes of music per song.
Cons: I can't really think of anything bad to say. (:
Review: I have to say that this is one of my favorite collections of songs. This collection shows a different side of Tori. Her writing style has taken a new direction it is as if she is at peace within herself. The melodies flow as you fly from flower to ...

Tori Amos: The Musickeeper

by   dixonmonkey ,  Mar 6, 2005
Pros: The very walk through "The Gardens"
Cons: None
Review: From her critically underrated "Y Kant Tori Read" to her latest incarnation "The Beekeeper", Tori Amos has proven time and again that music lives on. She has given music a facelift - one it has been in desperate need of since the rise of "grunge" in ...

lush recording that brings you to a beautiful garden..

by   dragonflied13 ,  Mar 2, 2005
Pros: She sings, she stings, and I am enthralled by the journey...
Cons: I hope the seeds in the deluxe edition really bloom when spring has sprung...
Review: Tori has yet again brought us back, forward and sideways with the journey of THE BEEKEEPER. From the haunting opening melody of "parasol" to the beatbox beginning of "cars and guitars", it is a lush, honey laden soundscape. I also think this cd is a ...

Tori's Best Yet!

by   rocklit ,  Mar 2, 2005
Pros: Hypnotic sounds, intelligent lyrics
Cons: None, perfection
Review: Tori Amos has come to a point in her life in which life is pretty good. Those who can't relate won't relate. For those open-minded enough to understand, this cd is a treat. In my opinion, The Beekeeper is Tori's best yet. Yes, the sound is much more ...
