Author's Review
As someone who is employed in a line of work that involves countless hours of waiting, magazines and periodicals are a big part of my day. I subscribe to many, but the first one I open at the beginning of each week is, The Week Magazine. This comprehensive overview of the past 7 days compiles the most pertinent and compelling articles from national and international newspapers, magazines, and online media to keep you informed on all facets of current events.
In conversion, I find myself referencing information gleaned from The Week more than any other news source. The editorials take on the feel of a conversion, presenting informed yet opposing views to give you a clear look at both sides. Concentrating primarily on politics, the magazine also includes smaller sections on arts, business, travel, science and other various topics from issue to issue.
The magazine is ordered to provide a pleasant first to last page read, interspersing pages dedicated to cartoons and smaller bites of information between more substantial articles. The Week is a first pick for heavy readers and skimmers alike.
For many that have not purchased a subscription to a weekly magazine before, there may be a bit of sticker shock. Weekly subscriptions can be expensive; however identifying value can help you get your money's worth. I also subscribe to Newsweek and Time, but find my self reading, retaining, and enjoying The Week more. The magazine itself offers a few discount offers from time to time, the best of which involves a two for one subscription which can be shared with a friend of loved one.
Many websites offer discount magazine subscriptions to those who would prefer not to subscribe directly from the publisher. While shopping for the best deal I found many of these site’s offers to be contingent with other purchases or use other strings to complicate the purchase. Amazon.com provided the best price and the most concise ordering process and subsequently became the place where I purchase all my magazines.
