The sequel to morrowind is here and it is amazing

Date of Review: May 31, 2006

The Bottom Line:  In my opinion, this is one of the best games ever made.
Morrowind was a game that came out in 2002. This is the sequal to it, and it is a whole lot better in basically every aspect.

This is honestly the best rpg I have ever played, and I have played many. The game isn't perfect. First off the game is absolutely huge. Everyone in the world has a voice and will carry on conversations with each other. There are probably hundreds of quests that you can finish and you can join clubs. If you steal something and get caught, you can join the thieves guild. There is also the mages guild, the fighters guild, and some other ones too.

The main quest isn't as long as one would hope. It took me around 24 hours to beat it, and my was that a good day of my life gone. The story is that these gates are opening up all over the world and these evil creatures are popping out of it. You must go inside them and fight your way to the top of the towers and close the gate. As you do the same stuff over and over again, your level increases. Examples: you sneak up on an enemy and your sneaking skill increases. You fight someone with a blunt object, and your blunt object fighting increases.

The combat in the game is pretty simple. Right trigger is attack with fist or weapon. Left trigger is block with two handed weapon or shield when you have a one handed weapon. Right bumper is magic. It's a little bit like the game Condemned for the 360.

There is an arena which you can join in and fight other people for money. There are a whole lot of items in the world and you can mix them to make different potions. Different potions will cure different diseases. I came down with vampirism, which makes you not able to go out during the day for very long, and people want to go away from you. To cure it, you have to do a quest to get the ingredients for a potion, or feed on people.

The graphics in this game are great, but not the best. The voices are more in sync with the mouths than most other games. The voice acting is surprisingly good for almost every character.

The game tends to slow down a bit sometimes, but is overall fun throughout. The game is in first person and third person depending on which one you want to have at any moment but you are probably going to want to use the first person mode more than the third person mode because it looks better and has less slow down.

You can ride a horse in the game, pick locks to peoples houses and then steal and even give money to the poor. You can talk to people and pursuade them to do something and then your speech skills increase.

Graphics: 9/10 Great but not perfect
Sound: 10/10 Although the music loops too much, the sound effects and the voices are fantastic.
Value: 10/10 You really get a lot out of this game and it is definately worth the $60. The main quest isn't as long as some other rpgs but it definately has a lot of extra stuff to do.
Gameplay: 10/10 The combat is really a lot better than Morrowind

The game is overall fantastic and is a definite must buy for any rpg fan and even if you aren't one you will most likely still like this game.

Overall score: 9.8
