My Umbilical Cord

I have had my TI-83 since the summer after my freshman year, when I took the Functions, Statistics, and Trigonometry course (UCSMP). It has served me all the way through Calculus, and it has proved extremely handy for chemistry and Biology / Earth Sciences. You would be surprised how often the regression & correlation functions come in handy, especially if you grew up loathing math.
I have also used my TI-83 for extra-curricular pursuits.
When I find myself bored in one of my classes, I start programming. Most of my programs utilize the random integer function, a feature that is not found on the TI-82. My favorite program is my random porn name generator. (If you are an aspiring young "actress" looking for a stage name, consider Areola Borealis or Virginia Washington).
Overall, this calculator is a great tool, which can cut more tedium from your math and science coursework than the earlier TI calculators. At the same time, it can be a means by which students lacking focus can further themselves down the path of academic self destruction.
