Author's Review
All my life, I was required to use a regular calculator that was only $5. Then I moved to Richboro, Pa and was required to use a TI-83. I went out to buy it and it was $100. I thought that was the most unreasonable price ever, so I bought it. As I learned to use it I learned that the money was definitely worth it.
This Calculator has everything. It makes graphs (6 different kinds). The graphs help a lot with equations and everything that I am doing in math right now. It can also make lists and find mean,median,mode,etc... for the list you enter. This is a little bit useful.
Algebra is all about equations and the very complicated equations that I can't figure out I can figure out with the TI-83 because it's so good. You can make X or Y = certain numbers then type in the equation and it gives you the answer.
Other than that, The calculator does multiplication, division, subtraction, addition, exponents, square roots, and a lot lot more. I never thought one little calculator could do so many things. There are so many different functions that I don't even know what half of them are.
That's why it comes with a book. The TI-83 calculator comes with a booklet with instructions on how to do everything on the calculator. It is very easy to understand, and I think it is very helpful.
When you get bored from doing math problems, it's time to have some fun. This calculator can have games. You either make them, download them or copy them from other calculators that have them. Some that I have played are Tetris, Mum, Pong and a few others that I don't remember. It's fun.
Games are programs, so that means you can have regular programs too. You can make programs that find area, length of a side or anything that you can think of. You just have to know how to do it in order to make the program. The booklet explains how to make problems so it's not that hard. It just takes time.
The TI-83 requires 4 AAA batteries, and they last very long. Mine have lasted for 1.5 school years so far. Anyone that likes math, needs help in math, or just has any kind of problem in math should buy this calculator. It is very High-Quality and works perfectely. I have never had a problem with it. I LOVE it. Maintenance costs are almost nothing, except for batteries which isn't a lot. The approximate cost for one is about $100.
