Texas Instruments TI 30Xa
Date of Review: Nov 26, 2002
The Bottom Line: I recommend the TI 30Xa for its combined strengths in durability, ease of use, and affordability!
I purchased this calculator as it was required for two of my high school classes, pre-calculus and physics. I was surprised at the affordability of the calculator.
This particular calculator is very easy to use. I would speculate that even a sixth grader could properly use the TI 30Xa. I had never owned a calculator that wasn't of the basic dollar store variety, and I had no trouble making the switch.
Talk about durable!! I have dropped this calculator several times, yet its hard case remains unscathed. It has fallen off my desk, out of my locker, been stepped on...it was usually in the front of my backpack, and I would carelessly fling my backpack into my car, and all of my books would smash up against the calculator. Yet, it has never once malfunctioned for me.
I most definitely recommend this calculator over the Casio version of the same model--other students have Casios, and from my experience, they are just confusing, and not as "nice" (for lack of a better word) as the Texas Instruments version.
I somehow misplaced my TI30Xa when I was moving to college--and I REALLY miss it. I am going to buy another one before I start my math class in the spring.
Two thumbs up!!
