Couldn't ask for more...
Date of Review: Jun 19, 2001
The Bottom Line: It can do anything you'll ever really need in life. For $12, if you break it, you can still replace it without breaking the bank.
Introduction
Let me start by saying that I have been using this calculator for about 2 years and I think it's great! It has never failed me.
Pros
The buttons are large and the print on them is, too. It has a backspace key and can fulfill anything a Algebra 1 student could ask it to (all for the retail $11).
I personally have the battery powered model and I know that it works perfectly. The calculating times are low and the buttons are in 3 different colors on a gray and black background. The "ON/C" button is also outlined in yellow, and the 2nd button is yellow with black text.
Cons
Nothing is without flaws, but this one has very few. My main gripe is that it has an "OFF" button and Texas Instruments decided to put it right under the "ON/C" button. A lot of times, I'll go to clear it and turn it off.
Also, the 2nd modes have important buttons on them. For example: E+, EE, DRG, and LOG have their own buttons. Whereas more important buttons like the fraction-to-decimal key and proper-to-improper buttons are 2nd function keys.
And my one little gripe: Nothing last forever. So eventually you're going to have to replace the battery in there. No big deal, except that mine went out halfway through my midterms and then, after I replaced it, the night before finals.
