Watch out for that Taxi!!

The Bottom Line: Arcade style racing, with nice selection of cars and tracks. Above average music. Good replay value
Test Drive 6 has some problems, but overall it's a great chance to buckle up in a super-charged automobile and crash into as many things as you want without getting killed. The game basically consists of 5 "Classes" of competition, each with their own sets of tracks and permitable cars. Money is bet and won/lost on races, with the final winner of the tournament taking a large lump sum. Other bonus methods of gameplay include "Challenges" which allow you to race the clock and a "Police" mode where you chase down racers and give them traffic tickets. What's fun about this is that if you start to lose in the tournaments you can earn enough money in these other modes to re-enter the tournament mode.
The benefits of winning the races, or in other words the object of the game is to earn enough dinero to purchase new cars and modify the ones you already own. One of the nice features of this game is figuring out which cars you prefer since they all handle slightly differently.
Game control is difficult at times, some of cars are way too responsive--making turns difficult. Essentially, you need to upgrade your cars to improve handling. I also find, however that upgrading to the final level might make the vehicle to "sensitive" to you commands. Gameplay at times can frustrating since it's not always possible to avoid the many "civillians" so to speak that are driving around town. Therefore one can be leading the entire race only to be thwarted at the final stretch by crashing into a slow-moving tourist. For some, this could be a positive feature--and i'll admit it's sometimes humorus. The game offers plenty of tracks(Rome, London, Maui, Carribean, etc.), including some that only consist of the racing cars.I would say the graphics are decent with some lack of detail in the backgrounds. In the final summary I would say that the games problems are not acute enough to prevent it from being a pretty enertaining experience. It's arcade style, selection of cars, tracks, and music all make the purchase worth your while. Oh, and last but not least a new version of Gary Numan's "Cars" is on the soundtrack. superb.
