GE Slimline 29267GE - As Adequate as It Wants to Be

I recently purchased the latest version of the GE Slimline corded telephone with caller ID. We have owned two earlier models for about ten years and fearing that one is about to kick the proverbial bucket, we decided to purchase a new one. This model comes in at least three colors (silver/black, black/black, and white/white) but all colors may not be available at all retailers. The 29267 has the same useful features as the earlier model but in an easier to use configuration: the buttons are larger, comfortably spaced, and attractively and logically arranged. It is simple to use and program and takes standard (AA) batteries. The design is clean and contemporary with an organic edge. The handset is substantial without being uncomfortable to hold for extended conversations. The voice quality is normal for an analog phone: adequate but not as crisp as digital. Sadly, it will be returning to the major retailer where it was purchased for about $9.00 for one simple reason: both cords are hard wired into the phone base, making it inconvenient to connect to a distant jack and impossible to replace the cords. If this is not a problem for you and you are looking for an inexpensive, corded caller ID phone, you will probably be happy with the GE Slimline 29267.
