My first Tekken Game

When We got our PS2 when they first came out the game selection was very limited and nothing really looked good but we got Tekken and a few others so we had something to play. After waiting in a freezing line and hoping to win the raffle to get the console we were determined :-)

Anyway Tekken is not the kind of game normally like but the graphics really caught my eye. After the opening scene the graphics were a little less but still better than I had seen before. I quickly joined my husband to play. Since I had NEVER played a Tekken game before I was bad, I basically just pushed random buttons to get through the game. There are over 2000 moves so I didn't expect to be great.

My husband and his friends had played other versions of Tekken before so they quickly got the hidden characters and stuff open. I really like the different characters and moves that my husband and his friends could make so determined to learn I tried again.

I read the manual to find the moves of my two favorite characters (Jin and Anna) and had a few moves in mind. I went into Arcade mode (where you play the computer and try to beat all the CPU opponents to reveal an ending story). I had forgotten most of the moves but I still got to the last opponent, just pushing random buttons. I found that a little disappointing. I figure if I can get that far people who know Tekken can probably zip right through this.

Next I tried the practice mode where you can go and just practice moves and learn how to do them better. This is a pretty helpful section for those of us unfamilliar with the game.

Other game options are 1 on 1 battles where you only play one character against another player or the computer. It is ok but I prefer the Tag modes better.

Team battles you can create whole teams (with up to 8 on each side). You have to beat all opposing team members to win. You can have uneven matches as well.

My favorite is the VS battle mode where you play two characters who can tag in and out. You can also add the multi tap and four people can play, in teams of two. This seems to be the most challenging to me.

Lastly there is a bowling mode. Here you pick two characters and you bowl :-) This is a pretty fun little mode. I usually will play it after my hands are aching from the battle modes.
