Magnificent movie!
Date of Review: Feb 17, 2000
First, I must tell you, I had absolutely no interest in seeing this movie at all. We bought it on DVD for my 3 children when it first came out a week or so ago.
We put the movie in and I just thought I would watch the first few minutes just to see what it was like. I could not take my eyes off the TV set! The first 2 minutes into this movie and I was hooked! Right from the start, it was terrific!
The movie is basically about a bunch of gorillas in the jungle. One of the gorillas, Kala, I believe is her name, loses her baby to a cheetah attack and while she is grieving her loss, she hears a baby crying in the woods and goes to investigate. She finds a baby in a tree cabin and sees that the baby's parents have been killed by a cheetah also. Right away the baby and Kala hit it off and she takes the baby as her own, naming him, Tarzan.
Tarzan develops all the gorilla instincts, swinging from trees, walking and talking like them. The only life he knows is the gorillas and that is what he considers himself to be, but he does eventually realize he is different from them, he is the son of man, not gorilla.
One day in the jungle, Tarzan sees one of his own kind, a beautiful girl named Jane and this is when two totally different worlds collide.
I don't want to give the whole movie away.
The movie Tarzan is packed full of adventure and laughs. It is a terrific movie for young and old alike!
I would definately recommend seeing Tarzan.
The animation is marvelous, the songs in the movie from the singer Phil Collins are wonderful! I will positively buy the soundtrack for this movie!
My children and I watch this movie at least twice a day and we laugh over and over again each time.
I think anyone who likes this movie would like any Disney movie, as they are all great, but in my opinion, Tarzan is by far the best Disney movie I have seen in a long time!
