Tarzan, scary man
Date of Review: Feb 7, 2000
My daughters, who are 6 and 4, got this movie as a gift from their grandma. She always gets them the Disney movies, thinking that they are appropriate for children their age to watch. She is usually right. We sat down with a bag of popcorn and started watching this movie. Right off the bat, people were being killed, and not in a Disney way. You know, Simba's father dies, but he is off to take his place helping young Simba from the sky. This death, in my opinion, was gruesome. They didnt show it, but they did show the bloody prints on the ground, the blood from the victims. My daughters were scared, and I was horrified that they were showing this. I was very disappointed that they chose to tell why Tarzan's parents were not in his life in this horrible way. It could have been done in a not so violent way. The rest of the movie is not as bad, but there are some other scary parts that would make this movie very unsettling for younger children. I will most likely put this movie up until my girls are a lot older. I am a grown up, and I had a very uneasy feeling about this movie. If you want your kids to sleep through the night after they watch a movie, do not get Tarzan.
