A hidden gem, don't pass it up

by   wingetj ,  Apr 30, 2004
Pros: good price, good quality photos, good entry level
Cons: slower to focus, bigger size
Review: For the first digital camera from this company, they did a great job. Argus is known for their cameras in WWII. This camera has great battery life and captures some pretty good quality photos. If you are a stickler for absolutely perfect, this might ...

Cheap and it works

by   denisd ,  Jan 17, 2005
Pros: Price, 5 mega pixel images, optical zoom, manual features.
Cons: Cumbersome to use at first, slow autofocus.
The Bottom Line: It works well if you spend the time nessary to learn how to use it.
Review: I've had the camera for a few days now and so far so good. If this camera cost the same as other 5-mega pixel cameras I would likely pass it up. However I purchased the camera for $119 us. For this price I would have been satisfied if it worked at all ...

Argus DC-3810 is a winner for the price

by   danmemcat ,  Aug 27, 2003
Pros: Price; Excellent sharpness; 5 megapixels! Large print size; External power adapter available.
Cons: No hot shoe for flash; Slow (f3.37) lens. Short zoom: 3x optical, 2x digital
The Bottom Line: Buy it if you want to graduate to larger, quality, digital prints with more control of photographic variables and instantly visible results. It made me a convert to digital photography.
Review: I set up my first darkroom over 40 years ago and was thrilled when Photoshop liberated me from the c ...

Great for the price!

by   dmburrows ,  Apr 12, 2004
Pros: 5MP 3x zoom low cost. AA batteries. ). File timestamp. Vidio/audio mode. Compact Flash format.USB
Cons: Focus requires a mid-button press and pause before taking picture. Slow record time. Slow review
Review: My first digital camera was a 1 MP Kodak w/o zoom. Moving up to this full featured 5 MP 3x optical zoom was great. The price was great and I was even able to use a rebate. It's nice to have all the controls (especially if you are used to a 35mm). One of ...

entry level

by   vr491 ,  Jun 25, 2004
Pros: 5.0 megapixel, cheap price
Cons: poor lcd, color quality
Review: This is definitely a great price for a 5 megapixel camera. I paid nearly half what most of the popular brands sell for. The color quality is not as close of a match as I've seen on some 2 megapixel cameras though. You can always photoshop it though. ...

An economical gem that could use a little more polish

by   cmgts1 ,  Dec 29, 2003
Pros: FULL Featured, great resolution, very low price for features
Cons: Cheap construction, color rendition poor, slow to process
The Bottom Line: Great resolution and features for low price. Need to be careful with cheap construction and patient with processing.
Review: This is my third digital camera. As the price of technology drops, I keep upgrading. First a 1 MP than a 2 MP. I still use the earlier digitals, each of the three have their advantages. I wanted the additional pixels to have the "latitude" that my ...

Hard to use! Hue and Lighting not good!

by   toshineon ,  Jan 4, 2004
Pros: Pixel Compression, uses regular batteries and compact flash card.
Cons: Very difficult to use, pictures too dark, adds an extra blue hue to everything.
The Bottom Line: Was inexpensive but I will have to buy a different camera right away. I should have gone with HP, Cannon, or Olympus.
Review: This is a full function 5.2 megapixel camera. We bought it to take pictures of our newborn. I am a novice photographer but an advanced computer user. I can figure out how to get things done and how to use things the right way. Initially, we were ...

Review of Argue 3810 digital camera experience

by   rodney10 ,  Jan 25, 2004
Pros: The specifications, five megapixels, the design, and the price, appealed to me.
Cons: The picture quality was totally unacceptable.
Review: I purchased this 5 megapixel camera thinking it would provide better pictures than my Sharp 4 megapixil and another 3 megapixel camera I had. And the price was right. My findings with the recent acquisition of the Argue 3810 digital camera, which is ...
