Product Review

Excellent

by   halo_bone ,   Sep 3, 2006

Pros:  Sound isolation Clear sound Full range of sound Not any less comfortable than everyday earplugs

Cons:  The carrying case design Make sure you put on the ends that fit your ear

The Bottom Line:  Recommended to anyone looking to upgrade from their below the line headphones. Probably not for "quick" applications, where you need to take them in and out all the time.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I've had the headphones for about two weeks now, and they are very nice. The sound isolation is much better than I expected--you can do loud things like mow the lawn or drive down the freeway with the windows down--and still listen at a low enough volume that are aren't destroying the inside of your ears. And even at low volumes you can hear everything in the music. You'll start hearing things you've never noticed before and even stuff like in the background of the mic as the studio, and the air noise that you would never hear through standard speakers or headphones.

These are the first non-cheapo headphones I've owned.
For anyone else who has only had bad earbuds or wal-mart clunkers: having them in is like having earplugs in, that have speakers inside of them. Some reviewers said it hurts & is uncomfortable, but it doesn't feel much different from a pair of earplugs. And just like when you plug your ears with your fingers, you can hear everything inside your head and mouth and stuff.

I've seen some people complain about the bass in the headphones. I assume they (1) don't them in right, because if they aren't, there is no bass and the quality goes WAY down, or (2) don't have the right size of ends on. It comes with 3 different sizes of three different types of these ends, to make sure it fits your ear and plugs your ear. Once you find the one that works, there is plenty of bass, especially if your device has an equalizer.

I'm extremely glad the cord didn't have two different lengths for the left and right. That is the worst, most useless, and annoying idea to ever come across the headphone industry.

The only bad thing about this product is the case that it comes with, which is necessary if you don't want the buds to get stuff on them. It has a middle spot that you have to fit both of the buds and the end of the cord in, which will be a tight fit. And it doesn't roll up or anything like that, you wrap it manually and it doesn't flex open very well, you have to stretch the zipper which is going to ruin the zipper in time. The case itself is heavy duty, though. =)

All in all these headphones are worth the money. As good as you would ever want for personal use, and some professional use. Paying 300 or 400 dollars isn't worth the little difference that it 'might' have versus these.

Highly recommended!
