Tamron SP AF17-50mm f2.8 Di-II LD - An Excellent Step-Up Lens!

Date of Review:  Dec 25, 2007
The Bottom Line: The Tamron SP AF17-50mm f/2.8 Di-II LD gives you excellent quality optics with a large aperture. The price is right, though you should look into the cheaper Sigma.
Review: At one point, I considered the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 XR Di II as a replacement for my kit lens, the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USM Lens. I managed to borrow this lens from a friend who uses it as his primary lens on Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT. The...

Pro Photog(me!) sold My Canon 17-40mm L series lens for this!

Date of Review:  Nov 16, 2006
The Bottom Line: I love this lens more than the Canon 17-40mm L series lens! Quality is great and it won't break the bank!
Review: I was a Nikon camera user for more than 20 years until I switched to Canon digital about 4 years ago. At that time,I purchased the lenses that had the best reviews and sometimes was disappointed in my choices.

I had the Canon 17-40mm 4.0 L...

Excellent Optics at Consumer Prices

Date of Review:  Jul 28, 2008
The Bottom Line: Excellent optics and specs that promise great pictures, with key compromises that do not sacrifice performance to give consumers a budget friendly price.
Review: I just bought my first SLR camera, a Digital SLR, back in November 2007. I expected to quickly outgrow the kit lens included with most cameras, and so a lot of time was spent researching and talking with friends to find the ideal lenses for me. I...

Tamron's APS-C version of the SP AF28-75mm f/2.8

Date of Review:  Nov 1, 2006
Review: I bought this lens the first day it became available to the public. It offered exceptional focus speed and focal-length wide-open aperture, rarely before seen in a lightweight lens of this sort.

It's minimal distortion is remarkable and...

Tamron 17-50mm 2.8

Date of Review:  Jul 15, 2006
The Bottom Line: Tamron comes through with a much needed zoom in the right price range. Low light capabilities and landscape all in one package. Great for family portraits and landscapes.
Review: I have spent some time yesterday testing this lens. I needed a wide angle lens [wider than my canon 24-105] and also wanted a low light 2.8. I considered a prime because I am spoiled with the canon 24-105 for clarity and IS. But a prime would not be...
