Tv Y Novelas And The Latin Show Biz World
Date of Review: Sep 16, 2000
If The Source is the medium for the diffusion of hip, urban music culture, TV Y Novelas is its equivalent for the Latin/Chicano/Hispanic urban music and culture. In fact, this magazine reminds me of some of the hottest ethnic magazines out there. It reminds me of "Jet," a magazine whose target market is the Black and African-American community. It is my opinion that TV Y Novelas is poised to enjoy a much broader niche. The Hispanic world has long been ready to have a few diffusion media.
The writers and editors of this magazine are doing a good job of providing their readers with the latest news they need about their favorite music and stars. It has something in common with the great French and Spanish magazines. Its pictures are flashy. The articles present an in-depth look at the stars. For the most part, a good number of the pages are about various bands and musical styles. On some of the pages, you will encounter some of your favorite songs writers, singers. You can also read about the Iglesias dynasty. Who has not heard a song by Julio Iglesias? You can read about his recently released cd. How about his two sons? Enrique Iglesias is huge in the music industry. His younger brother, based in Miami, wants to follow in his famous father's and brother's footsteps.
What I like about this magazine is the fact it is diverse. It presents news about singers, artists from the whole Hispanic world. If something happens in Venezuela, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, you are sure to find something about it in this magazine.
One of my former girlfriends'parents used it to remain abreast of their soap operas. While they were still into Julio Iglesias' old albums, their daughter and other kids were reading about the new,hip groups from the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Mexico. The magazine's writers do a good job of presenting a wide range of articles about hip hop, jazz, rap, rancheras, ensemble, bands and others.
If you can read Spanish, I will strongly recommend it to you.
