Author's Review
Being in the market to replace the DeLonghi Toaster Oven I looked at a variety of items from top to bottom.
My research kept pointing me back to the Cuisinart and the DeLonghi. Well I was not happy with the DeLonghi for a couple of reasons. As I have been asked to state the reasons by some of you, they are as follows:
1. The Rotary Dials would turn past the "OFF" on a toast cycle, and the oven would remain on. Even when turned off manually, I had this problem which is a FIRE HAZARD!
2. The toaster is very ver loud (The dials)
3. The oven is difficult to clean
4. There was no way to predict a toast cycle, it would get to hot, or not hot enough and you could never get an accurate cycle. To much of a hassle if you ask me.
So I bought the Cuisinart. Well I am thrilled to say I made the right choice.
First the unit is compact enough that is does NOT take up much counter space at all, in fact the dimensions are 16" wide, 10" high, and 11" deep. A smaller footprint than its competition with NO LOSS of cooking interior. Why? Simply put, the controls are on the base rather than on the side! Great idea to the engineer that thought up that one...
No lets get to the features, not it in order of like or importance.
1. Push button controls that an LCD readout will display. No more manual dials! Excellent, this makes wiping the unit down a breeze..
2. Electronically controlled sensors give you perfect toast each and every time. Be it 1 piece or 6 at any one toast cycle. You can also adjust for Bagels, and light to dark toast you choose how you like it.
3. Other functions are: Bake, Broil, Re-Heat, and Defrost.
4. The non-stick interior is also a breeze to clean, and maintain.
5. There is a lock on the side of the interior for the rack. Why? So no more "oops" when you pull the rack to far and it falls out of the oven. Not with this unit it won't.
6. The oven also has a programmable timer. Now you have freedom to set the oven to turn on or off at a certain time. Pop the bagel in the night before, and wake up to a toasted bagel, and fresh coffee (if you have the Cuisinart 12 Cup Coffee Maker - see my other review)
The exterior finish is a brilliant white, and it looks just fantastic, very clean, and nice finish.
The LCD clock, and display is very crisp and easy to read.
The oven itself is also a Convection Oven, allowing you to cook just about anything. Infact you can cook up to a 4 pound Chicken with no difficulty, making this item versatile enough to go into your home with a family of 5 or just an apartment for one or two.
Antoher winning item for Cusinart, I am glad I made this purchase, you will be too.
The price of this unit ranges anywhere from $65.00 to $99.00 which is right in line with its competition not more or less expensive, actually right on the price point.
Now that I have had this oven for a few more weeks, I can not even begin to tell you just how happy I am with it. Perfect toast EVERY time! Excellent to heat up Waffles etc. This is the best by far!!!
