When we searched to find the finest counter-top toaster oven broiler for our cable TV cooking program one unit stood out from all the rest - Cuininart's TOB-165. This feature packed unit does it all in one convenient package.
One unique feature of this particular model is that it's a 'convection' oven. The built-in convection baking fan circulates heated air around the food being cooked. This provides an even heat flow to cook foods thoroughly up to 30% quicker than any other comparable toaster oven.
Cuininart's 'Exact Heat Sensor' technology is probably the most important feature. Everything comes out perfectly toasted, baked, or broiled. No more undercooked, overcooked, or burned foods. This feature represents quite a leap in technology from conventional type toaster ovens.
This is a beautifully designed product. The control panel is conveniently placed angled on the bottom with easy to read and use touch pad controls. There are buttons for bake, broil, or convection bake in one section along with temperature selection. A second section is for 4-6 slice toast and bagels with 7 settings from lighter to darker. A third section provides defrost or reheat functions. A fourth section contains the clock, timer, and start/stop functions. Control selections are highlighted by an LED indicator light. Specific temperature, time, light/darker toast, etc. readouts are provided using a LCD (liquid crystal display).
This model is literally packed with custom option features. Custom settings for 4-6 slice toasting, 1 slice toasting, bagels, defrost, reheat, and combination settings which allow multiple defrost to cook options.
A neat feature is the 'Always Even Shade Control' which electronically monitors and adjusts the internal temperature for perfect toast every time from one use to the next.
Every food that has been either convection baked, baked, broiled, or toasted from either a frozen or unfrozen state has come out perfect.
We might mention that the front glass access door will never slam shut. It stops about an inch away and has to be pushed closed. Also, the oven rack has a 50% stop feature in the top rack position so it isn't inadvertently pulled out and dropped.
All accessories are provided including a complete broiler pan.
Cleanup is a breeze. The sides of the oven have a nonstick coating and the crumb tray is easily removed.
Cuisinart provides an easy to read and understand instruction booklet which includes a recipe section.
We highly recommend this model for those needing the best multi-function electric counter-top oven available.
