Its a shame not everyone is having good experiences with this oven, because I really like it. I got the Euro-Pro TO289 Stainless Steel Convection Toaster Oven this past Christmas (2005) from my grandmother and it has been the best toaster I have ever owned to date. It makes perfect toast once you get the timing down and also bakes equally well. I havent found the toast to take any longer than my old popup toaster (in fact, I got rid of it and just use this for my toast) and it is faster than my old toaster oven was. You do have to flip the toast over if you want even browning on both sides, but I had to do this with my old popup toaster. With the Euro-Pro TO289 Stainless Steel Convection Toaster, I can easily keep an eye on my toast and make sure it gets toasted to perfection!
I love baking things in it when I am just warming a single serving up. It beats waiting for my oven to preheat and seems to reheat things really fast. I rarely use my microwave anymore because this little oven does a much better job reheating things.
This toaster also has a grill setting which works great for small servings. Being a vegetarian, I use this setting to cook my Gardenburgers. It also has a broil setting, but I havent used yet. One of my favorite features is the Keep Warm setting, which keeps food warm up to 30 minutes. I use it when I make garlic bread or toast and want to keep it warm until the food I am cooking on the stove is ready.
The Euro-Pro TO289 Stainless Steel Convection Toaster Oven has a removable tray inside for easy cleaning. I simply take it out, empty crumbs in the trash and wipe it off. It is dishwasher safe, but I haven't felt it needs to be washed that thoroughly yet. To clean around the door, I just wipe it from the inside, then close it to clean and crumbs that collect under it. The baking tray that came with the oven is not non-stick, so I use aluminum foil on it to keep it clean. The wire racks are dishwasher safe and the oven itself cleans itself when you use it (very good feature!).
My only complaint up until now is how hot the outside gets
especially the door. I have had more than one plastic bread bag get melted on it. The melted plastic easily scraps off with some De-Solv-It, but it seems they could have made the glass a bit thicker to prevent this. This is the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five.
Despite the above-mentioned problem, I cant help but love this toaster oven and would recommend it to others!
