I loved my Dash

by   great2beme ,   May 5, 2009

Pros:  Durable phone with tons of functionality

Cons:  Quirky and takes some getting used too, head set, alarm.

The Bottom Line:  This is an all around good phone for almost everyone who loved gadgets and wants a good tough phone.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

I got the Dash just after it came out a little over 2 years ago.  For the last 2 years I have loved this phone.  I kept useing it even after my 2 years was up and I was elegible for an upgrade because I just live the features.  It may take you a little while to get used to windows moble if you are not used to this type of phone. If you are not the kind of person who likes technology this phone is not for you.  Because with all the features it talkes a little learning.  Also if you get one of the older Dashes make sure to upgrade windows moble.  When I first got my phone the program was still very quirky especially with the volume strip but all that was fixed with the upgrade that was avalable for free.

Mostly I love the Wi-fi.  I have Wi-FI at home and work, so I do not see paying for another internet service on my phone.  Because the phone has wi-fi I am good.  If I am going somewhere and need a map or some other information I just download it on wifi before I go and there it is on my phone.  OK I am a little on the cheep side but in this economy you have to cut corners.

I love the set up of the camera.  It works really well.  They have since come out with much better cameras as far as mega pixels.  And the reason I ended up having to give up on my dash is after 2 years the camera began having problems and the colors went crazy after 2-3 pictures.

I have to admit the alarm is a bit quirky.  It is designed to only have one alarm but the program lets you set more than one.  So if you fail to turn off the alarm and try to change it, you end up with 2 alarms going off and no way to turn off the old one without a hard reset.  This was no big deal for me because my schedule is pretty much set and I need multiple alarms.

I absolutely loved the design of the phone.  It was slim and had a great neoprene covering.  And being a teacher at a small private school my student often use my phone to call home.  That means lots of wear and tear. And as cute as all the slider and flip phones and the phones with all the shiney parts look they are just not durable under the wear and tear I put on a phone. And dispite all the wear this my phone still looks really good for a 2 year old phone.

This phone is a true world phone. My phone has  been all over the world.  It worked great in a recent trip to Saudi Arabia and UAE.  T-Moble is very good about unlocking if you are traveling which is a must for me.

love windows media player and the Mini SD slot.  I have intire audio books downloaded to my SD card and I can listen on the go.

My only real problem is the charger and Headphones use the same connection.  This means you can not charge and listen on headphones at the same time.  And since the battery life is used up quickly with assessories this can be a problem.

Basic battery life is good for phone calls and such.  But if you are useing asssessories wifi or media player ect. it cuts it down quicky.  If you are a music lover from your phone this may not be the phone for you.  Look for a phone with a seperate charging Jack and headset jack. Sadly my new shadow has the same problem.  But I am not much of a headset user.
