Author's Review
Is this product all that some of the "over the top" reviews here claim? Or is it just a bunch of hype? Good question.
For the price, this product has much lower air flow than a number of less expensive NAME BRAND air purifiers sold in stores. In fact, some of the less expensive, name brand purifiers have DOUBLE the air flow of this one. That is very important, because it represents the amount of air that can possibly go through an air purifier in a given amount of time.
A good reference site that tells how to compare air purifiers is www.cadr.org. Most air purifier manufacturers publicly list their CADR (clean air delivery rate) but for some reason Surround Air does not provide this information. That of course makes it harder to compare. However, their air FLOW rate is published, which as noted, is much lower than some of the of less expensive purifiers sold in local stores.
The Surround Air purifier is made in China, and is fairly standard. It has several fan speed settings, and also a timer and ozone generator button. Although you can turn the ozone button off, the product still discharges some amount of ozone by way of its UV and ionizer. So if you don't want any ozone at all, you are out of luck.
If you want to see one government agency's evaluation of this product, you can find it here:

Now, aside from the ozone issue, the question is: how well does it really work? That's a good question. Over time you will see some amount of buildup on the filter (at $32 each, not at all cheap). Your mileage will vary. However, the bigger question should be: if you went out and bought a more powerful air purifier, for less money, wouldn't that be a better purchase?
Hop in the car and get something locally.
