if y'all like generic hot rods, this is the mag for you

OK, I don't like Chevy's in general. I've seen so many Chevy hot rods over the years I find most of them generic and boring--oh, gee, another Camaro with a 350, huh? Wow, never seen one of those before...I will admit a soft spot in my heart for '57 Chevy's, especially with flames, but for the most part the sheer popularity of Chevrolet hot rods turns me off. At the same time--that popularity means that manufacturers and publishers cater heavily in favor of the Chevy crowd, and Super Chevy is among the best at that. I don't subscribe, but a former roommate did and I read her copies every month. In the process I found that it's actually one of the better hot rod/musclecar magazines out there, with fuller coverage and more relevant advertising than most. If it was ever made by or for Chevrolet, you can probably find out about it in the pages of Super Chevy.
The format is pretty standard: reader's letters, tech tips, feature cars, product reviews, new product and racing coverage. All geared for Chevy's only. But as I said, the depth of coverage is a bit better than most. I give this magazine credit for not being particularly disparaging of Ford and Chrysler products--too many Ford-only or Mopar-only mags waste time insulting Chevy instead of getting on with their own coverage. Insults don't count, only performance! Jealous? I am in a way--I wish parts were as cheap and easily available for my Buick as they are for all these Chevy's! If I ever do get around to building a Chevy (it could happen), I'll definitely subscribe to Super Chevy to get the latest info on Chevy hot rods. If you like Chevy hot rods, or especially if you're building or buying one, this is essential reading material.
