Author's Review
Some may say this is a bad game simply because it is outdated and the graphics are nothing to talk about. I just want to know since when graphics made a game good. Just look at Pokemon Stadium if you want a game that only has graphics! MarioLand 2: The Six Golden Coins combines a driving storyline with awesome levels and secret bonuses.
MarioLand 2 may not have the most original plot, Evil-Descends-You-Must-Defeat-The-Evil, but it is still fun. Wario, your evil twin, has taken over your castle and you must beat six worlds to gain coins to open the front gate. Though it seems odd, you can keep a running commentary with yourself as you play. I don't know how many times I've found myself mumbling, "Mario, with five coins, enters the final world, determined to gain the final piece of the gate opening currency." It really keeps you involved.
The levels are full of stompin' action that we've all come to love Mario for. The best thing is that progression does not always have to be linear. There are secret levels that can only be accessed through certain secreted doorways that you must find. New attire that brings Mario power involve the Bunny Suit, which sounds kinda messed up but is really helpful, and the Fireflower, which lets you shoot fire, also very helpful.
MarioLand 2: The Six Golden Coins, is well worth your money. It was an awesome game when it first came out, and still holds its own. The game will keep you involved for a long, long time, and you can come back to it as long as you've still got it and a functioning device that will play a Game Boy game.
