"Mamma Mia" A True Vintage Classic!
Date of Review: Dec 8, 2000
This is definitely one of THE BEST video games I ever played period! I can't tell you how many months of exciting gameplay i have experienced from Super Mario 64. It is definitely a superior creation all the way by Nintendo. Some of the best parts of the game are found in its great music, it's superb graphics, and in the plot itself. I found virtually nothing seriously wrong with this game whatsoever. I would highly recommend this game to anyone out there... and I mean anyone and everyone including adults.
In this 3-D and bright background game, it is up to Mario to recover the stars of Princess Toadstool's castle which were stolen by Bowser, King of the Koopas. Mario has to go through many obstacle courses and defeat several different bosses to restore the castle and to recover all 120 stars found in the game. It's not an easy task, but with the superior gameplay and with the guidance from the signs found on his quest, Mario must do everything in his power to recover all the stars and he will stop at nothing to do so. Whether it's sliding down a frozen obstacle course or battling Bowser in the sky, Mario uses every single technique he has to pull off the impossible!
One of the best aspects of Super Mario 64 was the music. It was definitely successful in bringing out the mood of Mario's surroundings. No matter where he was at the time or what he was doing, the music always seemed to follow him. Not only did it help to bring out the moods of each level, but it also seemed to amuse me during gameplay and to help me relax in a tight situation. Although it wasn't the most important part of the game itself, the music always added to the mood and the efforts of each of the characters as well.
Of course, when one is playing a video game, he or she wants to see at least decent graphics. The graphics from Super Mario 64 are way past "decent!" They're practically perfect, with an occasional little glitch here and there, but all inventions have small bugs in them and Nintendo shouldn't be faulted too much because of them so long as they don't effect the process of the game too much. In this case however, the graphics are amazing, and they add to the amusement factor of the game. The levels in which Mario is able to fly really put the graphics to the ultimate test!
Another great aspect of the game is that the plot doesn't seem to induce yawning and falling asleep. There is definitely plenty of action in every level and obstacle that Mario must overcome. How could one possibly be bored when Mario is swimming around with a giant electric eel which is as lethal as can be?! I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to sleep with Bowser blowing fire their way either. Although the plot to recover all the stars seems a little tedious and simple, each of the levels are the exact contradiction in my opinion. Each level gets that much harder as Mario approaches Bowser for the third and final time.
I have no real cons towards this game at all. It is one of the best games ever created by Nintendo and a pure classic all the way. I would highly recommend this game for all ages. Anyone would have a great time playing this game. Play Super Mario 64. You won't regret it!
