A cool winner!

I found Sunpentown on the web and although never heard of them, decided to give them try - as they're based here in S. California, I figure if anything goes wrong, they're nearby.

I first called the company and inquired about which unit is good for me. I mentioned I had owned (for a short 2 weeks), another brand (whynter) which didn't work out. The nice gentleman I spoke with was patient and helpful. He asked about my environment and recommended this unit. He said that although 12,000btu may be too large for me, it was on promotion and I pretty much pay the same as I would for a 10,000btu - so, why not?

I was able to purchased the unit from a recommended dealer and picked it up at their warehouse (which helped save 50/60 bucks in shipping). Got home and got the unit set up fairly quickly.

I wasted no time in giving the unit a test run. Before I even put away the packaging, I turned it on and set it to the lowest at high fan. I was a little disappointed to find that it was a bit noisy too (but much better than whynter).

As I was gathering the packaging materials, I heard the compressor kick on. I went over to the unit and was pleasantly surprised to feel a cold blast blowing at me. I stood a few feet back was still able to feel the cool air.

I decided to leave the unit running as I went out for errands. When I returned after 3 hours, my room was nice and comfortable in the late afternoon heat! This is definitely a keeper!
