Author's Review
I was looking to replace my 2000 Outback Wagon which I was handing over to my rock star stepson. I loved my Outback and was hoping to upgrade a few features while renewing my wheels of zeal. The XT Limited is the top of the line 4 cylinder Outback that includes Turbo powered boxter 4 cylinder that puts out 249 horsepower. I chose the 5 speed manual because I love the control it offers and Subaru is one of the few manufacturers that still offer standard transmission, a factor in my purchase. Of course the All Wheel Drive is a given and a primary reason for buying the Subaru, once you've experienced it, especially in snowy New England, you'll never go back. Heated Leather seating is standard and wonderful on those freezing mornings. I wish they offered rear seat heating to accommodate my passengers. The standard sunroof is nothing but panoramic. Open all the way it's close to a convertible. The 6 CD changer is essential, one that I missed on my 2000 and the sound system is excellent. Now, let me tell you about the turbo! This car needs premium fuel. I'm not sure why and when I bought the car the sales people didn't tell me about it. I suppose they thought I would do the research. But.........it does make this car go and I mean GO. Sometimes it feels like it's going to take off. If you're going to put the pedal to the metal you'd better be paying attention. First of all it will wind up past the redline before you know it. Second, you'll be moving faster than you expect in a family wagon.
Versatile is the word for this car. You can load it up to the gills, with a lot of stuff, and it still goes. With the right trailer hitch you can pull 3500 pounds. Not bad for a four cylinder.
Buy it!
