An excellent new car
Pros:
Styling, performance, comfort, safety, appearance, and reliability.
Cons:
Fuel mileage - around 21 mpg. Is improving as engine breaks in though.
The Bottom Line:
An excellent choice, better than any SUV offering out there.

Author's Review
My wife and I purchased a 2005 Subaru Outback Limited XT to fit our growing family. It only took one test drive and we purchased the car on the spot. Compared to a 4-runner, Explorer, Mazda 6 wagon, and VW Passat Wagon, well, there was no comparison.
The power is impressive, merging is an enjoyable experience - really, we don't merge, we charge forth and take over the highway now. The ride is impressive, comfortable, quiet - well better now after removing the cross bars on the roof rack, and the climate control has driver and passenger zones so she can run the heat and I the a/c and we can both be happy.
Space, the back is big enough for our 2 dogs, or anything else we wish to carry. Back seat is plenty spacious for the child seat or a few friends. I haven't really spent much time back there, but no one has complained yet. Plenty of space up front and driving position is fine for us both.
Comfort / convenience - seat warmers are nice - stereo is acceptable, sunroof is pretty sharp too.
Styling - beautiful. We purchased a black model with Tan leather interior. When we wax it up and clean up all the windows and bright work, it is one of the best looking cars on the road. The wheels are pretty sharp and clean up very easily as well.
Very very pleased with the purchase. And with just over 7,500 miles on the clock now, zero problems or concerns to report.
