L.L.Bean Outback at 40,000 miles

by   foveator ,  Jul 16, 2003
Pros: Powerful, quiet, steady on the road, safe
Cons: Classic Subaru styling and average qualities
The Bottom Line: Extremely dependable, comfortable car. Probably the best Outback produced. A very good choice as a used car.
Review: The L.L.Bean Outback is Subaru's first entry into what it perceives to be a "luxury" class of car. By Subaru's standards, they did a great job. BMW, Mercedes and Lexus may beg to differ. I am on my 4th Subaru, and they have gotten significantly better ...

Look out Audi, Subaru has you beat.

by   dave_corbitt ,  Mar 29, 2001
Pros: My version is loaded, well built, comfortable, peppy, great sound system.
Cons: Suspension a little mushy with 4 big adult passengers.
The Bottom Line: Sick of your old overpriced unreliable Autobahn cruiser? Subaru Limited Outback Wagon is just the thing for practicality, comfort, and rugged build.
Review: I'm a disgruntled former owner of an Audi 100 Wagon which I've written up in another EP review. I loved my Audi but hated the unreliability and costly repairs. When my Audi became too costly to repair I looked around for something to replace it that...

Perfect snow and slush-mobile

by   Boondox ,  May 26, 2004
Pros: Room for dogs, outstanding traction
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Good mileage, phenomenal traction, easy to maintain, fun to drive. Buy one.
Review: We traded both our Honda Civic and Nissan Pathfinder on this car. Living next to a ski resort, the front wheel drive Civic was unable to handle the snow, ice and mud of rural life. And while the Pathfinder always made it home, 8mpg in 4WD was getting...

Know Your Product!

by   thomtaylor ,  Nov 16, 2000
Pros: Dependable, safe, powerful, rugged, I could go on and on!!
Cons: I honestly can't think of any.
Review: I recently changed jobs and became a sales and leasing consultant for a local car dealership. The first thing that was stressed to me by my new employer was to know the product. Your customers will, so you had better!
I immediately went to work...

This Subaru has Six appeal. Move over Volvo, Audi and BMW

by   krisstarr ,  Dec 7, 2000
Pros: It is a wonderful mix of Luxury and Performance with All Wheel Drive
Cons: It does cost $30,000 and it is a Station Wagon.
Review: Hi

I just got back from a very exciting drive with the all new Subaru Outback six cylinder, this was with the surprisingly smooth all new L.L.Bean H6-3.0 model. At this time the H6-3.0 VDC, the one with the traction control and 11 speaker 200...

2001 Subaru Outback (20 year Subaru owner!)

by   pmartinj ,  Nov 20, 2003
Pros: reliability, economical to own, snow performance (AWD), safety ratings, roominess, comfy ride
Cons: a little funny-looking, visibility is just a tiny bit limited, poor local dealer service
The Bottom Line: reliable, economical, safe, comfortable, funny-looking, terrible local dealer
Review: The first Subaru I owned was a 1980 GL wagon. I've been snowboarding and skiing for over 20 years, and I wanted a vehicle with good performance in the snow. In these past two decades I've been overwhelmingly pleased with the reliability and longevity ...

Fully loaded VDC outback

by   flasks ,  Jul 21, 2002
Pros: Agility,dependability and track record
Cons: A little pricey but rewards with great satisfaction
The Bottom Line: Best recommendation is simply..try one out!
Review: It all started with a Ford Ranger (2000) 4x4. Prior to that is was always a sedan with front wheel drive for added traction. It was beautiful but sluggish and had a strong hint of instability during normal highway speeds and adverse weather condtions....

L.L. Bean Edition a great buy!

by   jarelj ,  Aug 13, 2001
Pros: High quality, reliable, new powerful 6 cyl. engine, sporty styling
Cons: Minor inconveniences, nothing major
The Bottom Line: Overall, the L.L. Bean Outback is a solid, reliable, luxurious and comfortable vehicle.
Review: I finally settled on the Outback after agonizing over what to replace my Mazda B4000 4x4 with. I wanted something for my wife to drive on snowy days in the winter (i.e. 4 wheel drive), with usable hauling capacity for the occasional trip to the...

I love my Subaru

by   onlyme22 ,  Jul 9, 2001
Pros: Great handling and traction. Affordable and dependable.
Cons: Small wheelwells collect ice.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a small car.. All wheel drive is great.
Review: We have always purchase Ford vehicles until now... We did our research and this car has a great dependability rating and a decent price. I have heard nothing but good about the Subaru cars from friends and family.
I now have a small child that needs...

Subaru: the only way to go.

by   CartoonCo ,  Nov 25, 2000
Pros: Great handling, all wheel drive, very spacious
Cons: Low to the ground, not really an off-road vehicle.
Review: My family and I decided to buy a new vehicle for our ski trip, so we looked in to the outbacks, because we had heard good things from friends. It has a great AWD (All Wheel Drive) system and responds very nicely. Even on tight curves, turns were easy and...
