Author's Review
I purchased my Impreza Outback in January of 1999, shortly after the new releases were rolled onto the lot. I live in Colorado where, if one is an active outdoors adventurer, a good, reliable car is a must.
The car is very handy and, despite it's compact size, can fit most anything I would require. I have two medium size dogs that frequent the mountains with me, and they are very comfortable within the confines of the trunk area (w/ canine seperator installed). I travel to the ski resorts with friends, and have even made several road trips to California. The car is very stable, with its AWD and Anti-lock brakes coming in very handy.
It's 2.2 liter engine is strong enough to get me where I need to go, yet I would like a little more power. However, I invested in an effective SUV, not a race car, so I don't complain much. The car is lighht so expect some wobble in heavy winds. The engine is relativly quiet, yet the outside noises are fairly clear, rather then dampened well such as in a luxury car.
Overall, I wouldn't choose another car to serve my purposes.
