What's up, Wasabi? My first Epinions purchase, that's what.

Date of Review:  Jan 20, 2000
Review: Cibo Matto's Stereotype A will always hold a special place for me, in that it is the first purchase I made solely from reading about it on Epinions. I read Lambira's review below, and it led me to purchase the CD - and I am very satisfied with that...

Three Tiny Asian Chicks With a Huge Sound.

Date of Review:  Dec 23, 1999
Review: If Beck had sex with the Beastie Boys, their child's album might sound something like Stereo Type A. Ever since '96's brilliant, food-obsessed Viva! La Woman, I have been waiting for more, more, more Cibo Matto. Stereo Type A does not disappoint...

Date of Review:  Aug 6, 2000
Review: I had heard of Cibo Matto for quite a while now, but I was never really sure if I should buy one of their albums (This was before Napster). But then I saw the group perform on Sessions at West 54th late one evening and I was totally blown away by...

Review: Cibo Matto's latest product, Stereotype A, is just One of Those Albums.

Following up their Viva! La Woman album of several indeterminate years ago, Cibo Matto have kept all the endearing charm and kitsch of the previous record, while...

Miho Hatori - Straight out of Purgatori

Date of Review:  Dec 14, 2001
The Bottom Line: Although there is no accounting for musical taste, this one is a must try. This band has an original sound that comes through on this LP and others.
Review: Perhaps I have grown cynical in my old age of 25, but it seems that it is very rare for me to find any music that I like. Aside from anything that Steely Dan has made, there isn't much out there for me. I constantly ask around but find nothing new...

Cibo Matto Gets Funked Up With Stereotype A

Date of Review:  Apr 3, 2001
The Bottom Line: For those who cherish intelligent, boundary-pushing alternative/electronic music, Cibo Matto's Stereotype A is a must-have disc.
Review: Those crazy, food-obsessed, broken-English-rapping Japanese gals are at it again, back with a flavorful and insightful follow-up to "Viva La Woman."

Stereotype A is full of more of their retro-funk-rock-hip-hop-jazz-lounge hybrids, 14 of...

The girls have funky tunes AND hang with the Beastie Boys?

Date of Review:  Jun 6, 2000
Review: Before I start, I hope that I can convince people to purchase this CD in some form or another with what I write because Cibo Matto is probably the best band you've never heard. And, when I first heard "Sci-Fi Wasabi" on the sample CD that came with...

The Bottom Line: Stereo Type A is a wonderful CD. Give it a try, I almost guarentee you won't be disappointed.
Review: My Favorite Multi-Faceted singers
With a number of singers dwelving into different types of music styles, it's easy to come up with a list of r&b artists who rap. Even for the most un-musically inclined person such as myself, I can pull out a...

Stereotype A - Fave of 1999

Date of Review:  Dec 5, 1999
Review: I would have never thought that my favorite album from this year would be from a band featuring two young Japanese women, accompanied by the likes of Sean Lennon, who sing - and rap - with an infectious, yet sophisticated groove sound.

Cibo Matto "get the sh*t straight"

Date of Review:  Jan 13, 2000
Review: Cibo Matto is incredible!!! They bring to music a whole different level of sound by blending different genres of music (jazz, hip hop)with their own unique style. Combining elements of rap (such as in Sci-Fi Wasabi) and R&B (moonchild)on the same...
