SPY KIDS ~~Adventure Movie For Kids

I took my three children, ages 10, 9, and 6 to this movie last week and was pleasantly surprised. When I usually take my kids to movies, I figure I am in for an hour and a half of semi-boredom while letting my kids enjoy a movie that is made for them. Not this time. I actually found myself enjoying this movie and it even held my attention. Now, I hope I am not the only parent that felt this way because then I would feel pretty silly for liking it, but I did.

The other thing I felt after watching it was that I know for a fact that when I was 10, I would have LOVED this movie and would have spent the rest of the month pretending to be a spy kid. And my kids have.

For starters, the cast was wonderful. The two children playing the characters Carmen and Junie were exceptional. The played the parts very well and as actors I would give them both two thumbs up. Sometimes these kid movies have children actors that just do not know what they are doing but not these two. The parents, played by Antonio Banderas and Terry (sorry, can't remember her last name, she was in Super Man), were also wonderful. It doesn't hurt any that Antonio is quite good looking. : ) There is a guest apperance as well by Cheech (I don't know his real name but you all know who I am talking of).

The movie itself is full of action. I don't like to reveal any plots in my movie epinions so I won't here either. I will give you a little bit of a teaser though. There are cars that fly off cliffs and splash into the water and become a submarine. There are hidden rooms in their house that have flying ships to escape with. There are also all the usual spy gadgets and trinkets that any kid would love to have! I know mine all wish they did.

This is a great movie to go and see. I would say that it was in particular made for the 8 to 12 crowd but my 6 year old still loved it. He did get scared in a couple of parts where the kids were in a bind but he made it through fine.

I highly recommend this movie as one of the great family movies of the year. Make sure you get out and see it!
