When my son started to get into sports more, we decided to subscribe him to Sports Illustrated for Kids. It was a bit of an easier read for him then trying to read dad's big issue. When the magazine shows up each month, he runs up the stairs, turns on his tv to the sports channel and eats up the magazine with delight. Off and on he will holler down the stairs bits and pieces that he reads. By dinner time, he has finished the magazine and has an interested dinner tale to tell, all about the articles he just finished reading.

The magazine is made up of a glossy cover, and usually with a full picture of a sports figure on it. Contents include articles pertaining only to the sports world:

Layout is simple and easy for kids to go through, articles and ads are seperated enough not to confuse child reading.

Ads pertain to children and their wants/needs. Some stay on issue with sports, some are on candy, shoes, soft drinks.
