Author's Review
ok, ok, i must admit, i am still a huge paula abdul fan, so what if she has not had a hit in a long, long, long time. sometimes you can still hear a paula abdul song on the radio, ok rarely, but i still love her. i love janet to, but i actually got into paula abdul quite by accident. i had a friend who loves janet jackson, way back in 91, well i did to, and u know everyone knows that janet and paula were rivals, or as so the media had it, so i said i like paula better than janet, i actually like them both, but for arguments sake, i said i like paula better. well since i put myself outthere i purchased spellbound. this is one of those cd's i still play today, do u guys remeber when cds came in theose long boxes, well that was spellbound. anyway back to the matter at hand.paula was pretty, had great dance moves, and catchy tunes, we all knew that from forever your girl. spellbound is a departure of sorts, its paula all grown up. her vocals to me are much stroner , the music has a harder edge to it, thanks to the great produceers, the family stand, who by the way were a great band, but has since dissolved. from the great opener, the promise of a new day, to the rhythm nation wanna be rock house, to the funky fun of vibeology. the cd also has one of my all time favorite artist, prince, yes its prince again, turning in the song u, (i seen a interview with paula where she said when she was in the studio with prince, he started smiling, she said i guess he liked it, well i dont know what he was smiling about, maybe the paula attempt to really belt out a song) she really tries too hard on the track, but i love it anyway. the non hit tracks are my favorite, spellbound, my foolish heart, which is what her future albums should have sounded like instead the album after spellbound, head over heels made a sad attempt to be forever your girl number 2. yes paula has some weak vocals, but call me crazy but i like her nasal voice, its great for pop records. i hope to see new music from pa
