I don't know why I like this movie. Is it because I am a huge basketball fan? Is it because I like Michael Jordan?
Nah It's because I like Looney Toones, to tell you the truth I don't really care for basketball or Michael Jordan. I first went and saw this movie with my little sister. There was only two movies playing at the time, this and something that looked even stupider. Well we went and watch this one, I had expected to see something that was made just to see how much money they could grab from the kids.
What I got was a very witty and funny movie. The movie plot goes like this.
Moron Mountain is an alien amusement park that is hurting for tourist. Seeing how there rides have lost there appeal to the customer, the big alien in charge (they never do give his name but his voice is play by Danny Devito) decides that adding Looney Toones to the park will be a good way to pick up tourist. He decides to send 5 little nerdlucks to capture and enslave the Looney Toon gang.
Well Bugs Bunny and company don't take this to lightly, so they trick the Nerdlucks into thinking that they can only capture them by beating them at a game. Now what game are they going to play, what game are little 6 inch aliens that can't jump not going to be good at? The answer is basketball of course.
The nerdlucks see though the trick, and figure out they cant win on their own. So they steal the talent of 5 NBA basketball players. This turns the tiny little nerdlucks into giant monstars. Looks like the tables have turn, and the Lonney tunes need help badly.
Who else would they turn to in their moment of need but Michael Jordan. Seeing how the nerdlucks missed him thinking that he was just a wannabe baseball player. Seeing Michael has their only chance of beating the Monstars, they kidnap him and take him to Looney Tune land. After some begging and insults on his present baseball career from Bugs, Michael agrees that he is there only hope and agrees to help them. Michael is not the only person who can help them, there is also Lola Bunny a new comer to the Looney Toones gang, who will gladly show Bugs she has more skills at Basketball then hell ever have.
With Michaels teaching and help, will Bugs and the gang be able to beat the monstars in their big game. Or will they be slaves on Moron Mountain.
Does it sound like it is using Michael Jordans name to make quick buck to you. Luckily that is not all there is in this movie. They did a good job of incorporating Michael into the basketball game that is played in the climax of the movie. They choreograph Michaels movements with the Looney Toones, if I didnt know any better I would say he was actually playing a basketball game with the Looney Toones.
There is also a lot of witty humor, and cleverness in this movie, all though most of it is typical Looney Toones fair that will at least cause you to chuckle. What I cant help is how cleverly the time line for this movie is right in between the end of his baseball career and his return to basketball. Also another clever thing is all the baseball jabs that are thrown at Michael in this movie, my favorite one is when Bugs says that if Michaels a baseball player then he is a Shakespearean actor.
This is a movie that I am pretty sure that anybody who likes the Looney toones will enjoy
