SOUTH PARK season 3 - The Best Season ??

I own Season 1 and 2 and am a huge fan of this ground breaking show. I remember when I first saw the show and the the first couple episodes before Comedy Central was even available in my little rinky dink hometown. I was dumbfounded by the humor. It was brilliant. I felt as though I found a secret of the universe. But, like all things great......it became mainstream.

I thought to myself that the fun would be over. Dolls and toys popped up everywhere. The secret was out..SOUTH PARK WAS EVERYWHERE.

I am glad to say that I was wrong. South Park only become raunchier and more insane. This is when they realized they had a huge audience and could now express themselves in any way they wish.

SO THEY UNLEASHED SEASON 3 ONTO THE WORLD!!!!!!!

I have been waiting for this DVD to come out for a while now and was first in line to get my copy.

Season 1 was without a doubt the best season of the 3 released on DVD, but Season 3 comes in a real close 2nd. Season 3, they decided to take the show in a different direction. They tackle serious issues like the destruction of the rainforest, jewish heritage, sexual harassment in the classroom and many others. They always try to take this issues with a childs point of view via STAN, KYLE, CARTMAN and KENNY.

I wont go into details for each episode, but if you will buy this DVD, you have probably seen many of these. However, it is better to watch them without being told about them. I had not seen or heard about a few of them before I watched them. It think I enjoyed the ones I did not know about more, because they were a surprise.

As you can guess from many of the titles, they are making shows about some issues that are touchy for a lot of people. But, as anyone who knows by now...the show is definitely not for everyone. This season especially because of the hop topics creators MATT STONE and TREY PARKER decide to dive into.

In RAINFOREST SCHMAINFOREST the ending theme is that the rainforest sucks and should be destroyed. TWEEK vs CRAIG is about a fight between two handicapped kids and how entertaining it is to the kids of South Park. So....some can find it highly offensive. I however, find the show very VERY funny.

Granted there are a few more than goofy shows in this collection. Jackovasaurs and Sexual Harasment Panda are only slightly funny. Some episodes it seems Trey and Matt are more determined to get there message across than to supply any humor. But, there are also some of the best episodes EVER in this season.

Season 3 started in introduce some excellent guest voices, from Jennifer Aniston to KORN. Those two episodes are actually my 2 favorites. (RAINFOREST SCHMAINFOREST and KORNS GROOVY PIRATE GHOST MYSTERY) They parody scooby doo so well in the KORN episode, its great. They even have the annoying sidekick animal thingy found in many scooby doo era cartoons.

The extras on the DVD are about in line with the other 2 seasons. They have a few commentary tracks and a mini introduction for each episode. The have a interview with the 2 creators as well. Nothing really exciting.

The sound quality and picture are great. Actually better than watching them on television. I found the picture crisper and the sound quality clearer than watching an episode off of Comedy Central.

I would recommend this DVD to anyone who loves South Park. I have even watched all the new seasons and still feel Season 3 is the 2nd best only behind the 1st season.
