Luvin' the Luv Shack!

My boyfriend and I were pretty bored one night so we decided to rent a couple of games for the Nintendo 64. We happened to pick up "South Park Chef's Luv Shack." It was a great time and it had us laughing for hours. The sounds, jokes and fun South Park characters are highly entertaining and the variety of mini-games gives just enough challenge to make the game fun and competitive.

The Game

Chef's Luv Shack includes all of the great South Park characters and makes them contestants in a trivia type game show. You can choose which character you want to play as and up to four players can play at a time which makes it a lot more fun. I have to admit the game got a little boring playing it by myself but with a partner it was entertaining and there was some good competition going on. You select the number of rounds you would like to play and there are three questions asked in each round. After each round there is a mini-game that the players compete in which adds some nice variety to the game. It's also nice to have the question and mini-game combo because it gives different opportunities to gain points. Some people are good at trivia while others are better at the mini-games so it helps even out the control of the game keeping the competition much closer.

Mini-Games

The mini-games are by far my favorite part of the game. There are a variety of different games that are randomly selected for players to compete in and they are generally basic arcade type games. Just a few of the games include:
1. Asses in Space - (a spinoff of Asteroids) where players gain points by shooting and destroying various sized rear ends which move across the screen. This is a bit juvenile but still entertaining.
2. Go-Karts - players race around a track for position as well as points.
3. Beefcake - a game where the character Cartman chases after flying cans of food which he devours for points.
4. Tug-of-War- players battle it out at the rope for points.

Although the game is entertaining and the mini-games are great fun there are a limited number of questions which kind of stinks. After playing the game several times you will find that many questions begin to reappear in the game. This can make the game kind of boring, especially if you are playing by yourself. However, if you have another player the min-games still keep the game entertaining.
