the second coming

by   siamesemuzzle ,  Oct 10, 2003
Pros: Deep, strong.
Cons: Underrated, A little to sad.
The Bottom Line: It's hard to not give it a perfect score. The music is pure and free.
Review: Blind Melon holds as one of my personal favorite bands for many reasons, but mostley because it's great music. Soup is their second album released. Coming out a bit too long after their first self titled release. Sadly the media totally ignored this album ...

one of the greatest albums nobody knows about

by   Soma2007 ,  Jun 3, 2001
Pros: diverse (yet unified), catchy songs, nicely themed artwork
Cons: by itself, none
The Bottom Line: this album is catchy, enjoyable, and has a diverse collection of sounds - i would honestly recommend it to anyone
Review: Blind Melon's Soup makes a radical departure from their guitar-rock debut, adding brass, mandolins, banjos, and even kazoos into the mix. the result is an album filled with songs that stick in your head and just don't seem to get old. here now is...

There's a classic in my soup.

by   mr_yamanouchi ,  Jul 24, 2001
Pros: Musically diverse, soulful and original, Best of Blind Melon's albums
Cons: We never got to see the band fulfil their musical promise
The Bottom Line: While tragic in circumstance, Blind Melon scaled great musical heights with this triumphant album. Under appreciated and undervalued the world is a poorer place without them.
Review: While many bands were happy to regurgitate the same material
with the belief it would keep fans happy, Blind Melon committed the ultimate crime in attempting to create a different sound to their first album. Sadly this second record was the band's...

The Middle Masterpiece

by   kaitilion ,  Jan 19, 2003
Pros: Blind Melon keep up to their standards created by the first album.
Cons: Blatant demise of lead singer Shannon Hoon.
The Bottom Line: Arguably the best Blind Melon of all.
Review: Once again, Blind Melon puts out a CD that's as lyrically captivating as it is musically. There's just something about the way they perform - a perfect mix of intensity and carefreeness, struggles and happiness. But further down the spiral, the drug...

Not Soupy at all

by   kurtsgurl7 ,  Mar 14, 2001
Pros: Great Music
Cons: Too short!
The Bottom Line: Get It
Review: Soup is a great album. I highly regard it to any of you who have interests in real music. The beats and lyrics are great music to listen to while doing just about anything. I usually listen to it when relaxing or doing homework, but it is good music for...

Soup...an Under-appreciated Final Gem

by   lambchops , lead in Music at Epinions.com ,  Nov 6, 2002
Pros: Great songs on the whole. Memorable melodies, lyrics, and instruments.
Cons: Hoon's obvious depression and unease.
The Bottom Line: A great album from a band unlike anybody else of their time.
Review: Just two full length albums of material were released by Blind Melon before Shannon Hoon self destructed, overdosed, and died in 1995 while on tour in support of the band’s second album, Soup.

Blind Melon was unlike...

Soup sports a huge list of ingredients

by   phungus ,  Apr 5, 2000
Pros: Some very good songs
Cons: Too different from the first, turned away a lot of untrue fans
Review: Soup was Blind Melon's second and final album before the sudden death of lead singer Shannon Hoon in 1995. Just a couple months after the album was released, the band was on the road touring and promoting it when Hoon died of a drug overdose in New...
