For years now, Namco has brought us some of the most amazing fighting games ever. The Tekken series alone has brought the company millions as people rush to these machines to play the most innovative fighting game out there. But Namco has also created a game that melds sharp 3D graphics along with a weapon battle system known as Soul Blade.
Before Soul Caliber appeared and dominated the fighting games on the Dreamcast was Soul Blade. As game where you fight using weapons of all kinds and types. The large variety of moves and combos with sharp 3D graphics made Soul Blade one of Playstation's greatest games. Even on the aging Playstation, Soul Blade will amaze you with the graphics and make you think you were playing a console more powerful than a 32bit system.
In the arcade, Soul Blade was a hit. Now as the game hit the Playstation game console, Namco was ready to surprise all the Soul Blade fans out there. They added a story mode to the already perfect game. In the story mode, you pick your fighter and lead them through a quest to find the legendary Soul Blade. You battle other fighters in all sorts of situations. Along with the story mode came the option to change weapons in the game. The weapons are earned in story mode but once you have it, they're at your disposal. Each of the weapons are all in great detail and each possess different abilities. Some are extremely powerful but slow, as some are fast yet weak. The characters are detailed all the way down to their shadow. Soul Blade is definitely a one of a kind fighting game that is a must have if you own a Playstation. But if you own a Dreamcast, go get Soul Caliber which is three times better than the original.
