The New Cybershot DSC F828 How good is Sony?s first ?PRO? Digital Camera?

Date of Review:  Jan 4, 2004
The Bottom Line: Sony has obviously been listening to consumers and the result is a prosumer digicam with genuinely professional capabilities.
Review: Sony's first "L" body swiveling lens digicam (the 2 megapixel DSC F505) hit store shelves in 1999. The latest incarnation of that venerable design is an 8 megapixel update of the very popular DSC F717. The new Cybershot DSC F828 introduces several...

~ BRAINS & BEAUTY in the Photography World ~

Date of Review:  May 27, 2004
The Bottom Line: This camera is an EXCELLENT camera if you know enough about what you are doing. It's affordable, and gives you that professional quality. Not meant for beginners.
Review: If you want professional looking pictures then the Sony CyberShot DSC-F828 is the digital camera for you. I don't think there are many that compare without going to an SLR camera. Recently my husband upgraded to the Sony F828 camera purely by...

My Review of Sony F828

Date of Review:  Apr 5, 2008
The Bottom Line: Good buy, especially if getting a used one - bottom line, great pics.
Review: I have had this camera since March 2004. It was my second camera, and it has been an excellent choice for me. The optics are Carl Zeiss, proving to provide amazing color reproduction. I have had this camera in the cold of the far north of Canada,...

This camera is So capable even with it's 2/3" CCD!

Date of Review:  Oct 29, 2004
The Bottom Line: It's a bargain if you can get it lower than $700. Sony is throwing in 512 MB MSpro to buyers for free between now and Dec.
Review: Who should buy: Sophisticated users to amateur enthusiasts. Best-fit buyers are looking for an ONE-PIECE DIGITAL camera with the most natural control designs, great amount of features, top performance of speeds (non-raw), high quality pictures and...

Almost a DSLR

Date of Review:  Nov 14, 2006
The Bottom Line: If you're a pro looking for a backup or pro/semi-pro with a smallish wallet, this is a great solution.
Review: An upgrade from my DSC-F707 (http://www.epinions.com/content_278293941892). My uses: product images, public events (inside and out), local/regional advertising pix. Meaning, jpeg or tiff. Raw, though available on this model, isn't usually necessary,...

Superb Camera with Some Faults

Date of Review:  May 10, 2004
The Bottom Line: Superb camera with outstanding build and image quality. Highly recommended as long as you don't believe all the purple fringing hysteria.
Review: The 828 is a superb camera that has gotten significant bad press over purple fringing. It's an overblown issue and should not weigh heavily in a decision to buy one. The build quality is beyond reproach, the handling is superior to anything in its...

It wants to be a DSLR when it grows up

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2004
The Bottom Line: If you want a pro camera or mostly a automated point-and-shoot, you could make a better choice, but "serious amateur" level photogs should take a look at the 828.
Review: 01_08_04

This is my fourth digital camera (1. Ricoh point-n-shoot, 2. Olympus point-n-shoot, 3. Sony DSC-D700). I also shoot Contax 35mm and Mamiya TLR medium format gear. I've got professional tastes with a "serious amateur" budget.

I'm troubled. Wanted to love it, but can't force myself.

Date of Review:  Jan 22, 2005
The Bottom Line: I'm not happy. It may be the best answer for the price and picture size, but I'd look at the other 8meg cameras before picking this one.
Review: A semipro 8Meg camera for under $1k. Wow. The 1st out is not always the best. I wanted a 8meg real bad. I did all the research and printed loads of reviews and pictures as soon as they came to the web. Some people were a little skeptical, but still...

Supercharged Sony Cybershot

Date of Review:  Jan 3, 2004
The Bottom Line: Pro-quality camera that digital photography enthusiasts will adore. Awesome image quality, feature packed, its a veritable powerhouse. This cam will make a good photographer great!
Review: (SECOND UPDATE) I have taken over 2500 digital pictures in the last 3 months and most of them are quite excellent. THE NAYSAYERS ARE MAKING A HUGE DEAL about Chromatic Aberrations...all digital cameras have CA, some better and some worse. Any pic...

Best In It's Price Range

Date of Review:  Mar 20, 2004
The Bottom Line: This is the sub $1000.00 camera to own. It outperforms the Canon Digital Rebel in most aspects. The features on this camera leave the others lacking.
Review: First let me say that I am not a photography expert. When I bought this camera,....I did not know what aperture was. I had always just used the automatic features on my digital Olypmpus cameras.
However,....I recently discovered that 4...
