Sony MDR-J11G work well for me.

When I bought my MP3 player, it came with a standard set up ear bud headphones. The ear buds worked just fine as long as I wasn't moving around a lot. Since I bought the MP3 player to run with, I had to get a new set of headphones.

After trying a few different types (including taking a couple back to the store), I settled on the Sony MDR-J11G. Here are some of the features of these that made them the perfect choice for me:

1. They stay on my ears. Obviously, this was the most important feature to me. With my first set of headphones, I spent more time trying to keep them in my ears than actually running. But, with the Sony MDR-J11G, I didn't have that problem. The hook around the back side of the ear and fit snugly.

2. They are lightweight. Many times I don't even realize I'm wearing headphones because they are so light. I'm not sure how much they weigh, but that would be a moot point since I don't even realize I have them on many times while I'm running.

3. The sound is very good. I am, by no means, a connoisseur of headphones, but the Sony MDR-J11G headphones have the best sound of any headphones I've owned. They are always very clear and rich. It's not like listening to the speakers in your car or home, but I have no complaints about the sound quality.

4. The cable length is perfect. This may not be a major problem for some people, but when I'm running, I hate to have to try to work with a cable that is too long or too short. If it's too short, I end up hitting it with my hand and pulling the headphone out of my ear. If it's too long, it hangs down too far and gets in the way while I'm running. The cable on the Sony MDR-J11G is just the right length. When I'm running, I hold the middle of it in my right hand (as my MP3 player is on my right arm). It stays out of my way and I don't have to worry about hitting it and pulling the headphone off my ear.

5. The price is right. As I'm not a serious runner (I try to jog around 20 miles per week), I'm not one to go out and spend a fortune on an MP3 player and headphones. I bought these at Wal-Mart for around $10. They have served me well and I've gotten my money out of them and they show no signs of wearing out or breaking.

6. The label says it's made for athletes. I don't consider myself a true athlete, but the label says it's made for athletes. That just makes me feel better. :) Even though this is a joke, it's very true. With these headphones, you don't have to worry that you will lose your music while you are running. They will not fall off your ear.

Now, you are probably saying to yourself, "You've told me all these great things about the Sony MDR-J11G, but what are the things you don't like about them." Well, as difficult as it might be, here are a few things that might be lacking with these headphones.

1. No volume control. This is not a big deal to me since I control the volume on my MP3 player, but many people might rather have a volume control on the headphones as well.

2. They are odd looking. While wearing these, there is no doubt that someone will look at you and not realize you are wearing headphones. I wouldn't recommend using these if you are going to spy on someone. They will know you have an ear piece. :) Seriously, they are rather strange looking compared to many other models of headphones. This isn't a big deal to me as they hide my big ears.

As you can see and probably guess, I highly recommend the Sony MDR-J11G headphones. While they might have a couple of downfalls depending on your preferences, the positives greatly outweigh them. If you are an athlete (runner, jogger, etc.) and are looking for a new set of headphones, give these a try. They are great.
