Product Review

Feel the shock with the new dual shock 3 controller

by   nate45espada ,   Jul 13, 2008

Pros:  new dual shock 3 system, sill has sixaxis

Cons:  left analog stick

The Bottom Line:  this item is worth buying for only 5 dollars more!

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Overview: the new dual shock 3 controller is a good controller but it has the same flaws as the old sixaxis one, which is the analog sticks, although the buttons on the dual shock 3 are harder to jam so that is a upside. The problem that I have had with the analog sticks is that the left one seems to move on its own sometimes which can be a hassle, also the analog sticks get jammed after a while which means guess what, you need a new controller other than the analog stick I love this controller, first because it is only 5 dollars more and, there is less of a chance of the controllers buttons getting stuck which is a plus.

Durability: like I said the controller is less likely to have its buttons stick than the sixaxis controller, not only that it is sixaxis (for those who did not know), on average I would say that for the extra five dollars you are spending that the controller is worth it, because this controller will easily last you two to three more months than the original sixaxis controller which is a major plus. Besides that you still have a better controller that lasts longer and has the new dual shock 3 system.

Sixaxis Ability: The dual shock 3 controller has the same sixaxis abilities as the first controller, which is really nice because I don’t think you want to lose the sixaxis for the shock anyway.

Games the controller is good for: I have played Metal Gear Solid 4 a numerous amounts of time and I think that this game is a excellent game for the dual shock 3 controller, another game that is really good with the controller is a game that I believed to not be able to use the dual shock system, but it can and it is Resistance Fall of Man, another surprise for me is that I thought that the dual shock three controller is great for racing games which I assumed it would be bad for them, because I thought it would make it harder to drive, but it actually makes it easier to drive.

Games the controller is bad for: The dual shock 3 controller is bad for all games that are incompatible with it, and games like Dynasty Warrior six, and fighting games because when you get knocked down it gets very annoying, like Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit.

Changes: the only changes from the sixaxis to the dual shock 3 are the weight, the dual shock abilities, the cost, and the durability.

Rating: I would give this controller a 4 out of a possible 5 because the left analog stick has yet to be fixed which is a really annoying thing; if Sony fixes the left analog stick I would give this controller 5 out of 5, but until that happens they will have to settle for 4 out of 5.
