MDR-XD100 - A decent low-end product

by   inthefade ,  Aug 11, 2006
Pros: Decent sound; comfortable (with modification); good cord length
Cons: Large, cumbersome size; lower volume than normal
The Bottom Line: Overall, these aren't the worst headphones in the world. With a bit of tweaking, they're great for everyday indoor use. If you're on a low budget, get them.
Review: Sony MDR-XD100s are a very nice choice of headphones if you're not willing to fork out hundreds for a high-end pair. I found my pair at Dick Smith Electronics for $50 (Australian). The sound is great for the average music enthusiast (I'm no audiophile ...

XD100 Review

by   kganesh77 ,  Dec 26, 2005
Pros: Good Sound Quality, Bass is just right
Cons: No Volume control, have to reduce on the console connected
Review: Was in search of a decent Sony headphone which can connect to my pc as well as TV. With its 3 meters length cord the Sony XD100 really suits both the purposes. You can maintain decent distance from TV on ur bean bag and watch DVDs on a hi-fi clear sound ...

Sownie

by   sownie ,  May 31, 2006
Pros: Good sound quality for what they cost.
Cons: Feels and looks cheap.
Review: Sound is decent. Its loud enough and clear enough for most people. They do get the job done and the sound is clear. Construction is cheap, they seem strong enough for headphones. As long as they stay on your head as they should and are not being thrown ...

Solid low-end performers

by   thegreatfoo ,  Dec 27, 2005
Pros: Good cord length Above-average sound quality Excellent pricing
Cons: Not very adjustable Flat/Cheap appearance Dual wires
Review: I picked these up for general PC/Portable/Stereo use until I find a high-end pair that suit my needs. The headphones were bought on the high-street in Borders bookshop in York (UK). Returning to proper headphones from using portable units brought home ...

Average Sounding

by   yibok ,  Mar 4, 2006
Pros: Priced right and okay if your not fussy
Cons: Weak base and weak volume. Clarity muffled.
Review: I bought these Sony MDR-XD100 headphones because I wanted something with more volume. I thought the 70-ohms would be better than the 32-ohms set of headphones I had before, but there was no difference in volume. Mid and upper range were okay, but the ...

Poo-Poo Sound in a Nice Package

by   sheldoncoles ,  Mar 2, 2008
Pros: - covers the ears
Cons: - bad bass reproduction
Review: I can't believe SONY even put their name on these poo-poos. I'm not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but I was looking to replace an aging pair of decent SONY 'phones for gaming mostly. I couldn't stand it for 5 minutes. The bass is ...

For That Gentle, Music Loving, Deformed Chimp In Your Family... Who Has Sensitive Hearing.

by   shmoo1 ,  Sep 27, 2007
Pros: At thirty bucks, they are fairly cheap.
Cons: At thirty bucks, they are still over-priced.
The Bottom Line: There are wiser ways to spend your money.
Review: Usually, I’m the kind of guy that will spring for the few extra bucks when buying electronics of any kind. You get what you pay for and if you want quality... well, it costs money. Usually I do my homework. Usually I don’t just pick up ...
