Not what it's hyped to be

I got this unit about 6 months ago. I was waiting for a really long time to get a wireless dolby digital surround headphone which takes direct optical input. Finally I saw this in Fry's and just bought it without any extra thoughts.
This unit is not what it's hyped to be. First of all, read carefully on the box when it says "virtual dolby digital". I'm an audio buff when it comes to these real surround sounds. I have used some headphones (wired) where I still can get sounds coming into my head from different directions. Now technically that is possible only if there are multiple speakers inside the headset. Unfortunately, when I listened to it (plugged into real dolby 5.1 input), it just was blaring. I mean , the only thing you can differentiate is the general right to left and left to right fading effect (that you can see on many headsets) and no surround back effect. The bass is not all that great. You can get better wired headphones with much better features than this. But the compromise is the wireless.
Battery charge lasts for long time (self charges on it's charger/transmitter).
Also as it's infrared, there can't be any obstable in between the headset and the transmitter. Not even your comforter (if you're using it in your bedroom). Any slight block will result in a hiss.
But I just decided to keep it just for bragging rights. It is definitely not worth the price. I'd probably recommened it , if it's less than $150.
Although it switches between dolby 5.1, dolby surround, I can't tell any difference with all that loud sound(even with 5.1 optical input). Not refined. To get those true effects, sony should use multiple speakers (atleast 3 each side) inside the headset with some hi-end directional sound 5.1 technology.
