great headphones, good price too
Date of Review: Nov 24, 2004
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended, but not if you're big on MP3's. Great sound quality, great value.
I got these in Stockholm at a rip-off price, (around 160 euro/dollars), but i needed them rapidly for the flight home.
And I'm not at all regretting the purchase. I bought them, let them play a looped MD for 2 days, and then left Sweden, the 6 hour journey from Norrkoping to Dublin was Fantastic thanks to these phones. The sound is phenomenal,
the midrange and highs are crystal clear, and the bass is extrardinary! While listening to techno its the closest to being in a Club that you can be with headphones, I've never heard such fantastic bass out of any set of headphones, and that's including higher end Sennheiser models.
The only downside is that the Highs can be a bit too sharp and revealing, but if you have an EQ on your player, then these ARE the perfect headphones, they truly are Reference headphones.
If you need closed headphones, look no further, if you just need headphones, i'd still pick these over any grados, they have the classic reference quality of sound the grados have, except with good bass. I certainly would pick them out over the closed Senheiser models, which are not quite good enough sound wise, And i would pick them out over Sennheiser for portable audio too, because they are so easily driven.
Thats it really, great sound, industrial construction, great value even when you're paying double the normal price...
