Wonderful TV- Great Features - Minor Minuses
Date of Review: Apr 5, 2007
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this over the Mitsubishi or Samsung DLPs. The picture is amazing, more realistic and just amazing!
Wow, what can I say this has some amazing picture. BTW, the 60A2020 is the identical tv but all black (as opposed to the silver/black of the A2000). So, the A2020 is the 2007 version (all black) and the A2000 is the 2006 version (Black with silver).
First thing I have to say, amazing picture. The settings are adjustable by resolution/input. This is a great feature. I have more "adjustments" and "filters" on the Standard Definition (SD) channels, and more realistic, pure settings on the HD settings. It does an amazing job with 1080i off the air as well as 720p.
There are some strange weaknesses. First, the weaknesses are only if you do not watch Satelitte or Cable. They are 1) No Cable Card slot, and 2) No Guide. I really do not care too much about the Cable Card Slot, but the lack of a guide is puzzling. I know the XBR2 has the Cable Card, Guide and extra HDMI, but not sure if they needed to withhold it from a $2000+ tv. But if you watch through cable or DISH/DirectTV you will not even notice the TV doesn't provide Guide data. It would be a great thing to have when watching OTA (over the air).
Overall, I really like this TV. It is an amazing TV compared to other Rear Projection TVs. Again, the picture was the best I saw anywhere. It is in a bright room and does great. It has a strong picture and very realistic.
The only weakness (compared to DLP tvs in the same price range) is lack of cablecard/Guide Data.
I would recommend this TV, it is amazing.. and what a great picture (so realistic)
