Dependable for me

by   mcpcharles ,  Jan 12, 2007
Pros: Dependable and worked with all disks even computer cdroms.
Cons: None yet.
Review: I had trouble with a number of DVD players failing and not playing discs. Had to return 3 other brands that were defective. Bought this Sony and it has played flawlessly for me and my childs use also. Bought the SLV-D370P after the divorce and it has ...

Great convenience and quality-plays all my DVDs

by   treefroglover ,  Mar 23, 2005
Pros: Good value for a DTS DVD/VCR combo, great convenience.
Cons: Universal remote could have more options. No front video inputs.
Review: I found my SLV-350P to be very easy to hook up and use. I haven't had any DVD player problems the other reviewers wrote about, so maybe they were unlucky or Sony fixed the problem. I have also played an audio CD with no problem, but I haven't tried an ...

Been working fine for years

by   hgsnotes ,  May 7, 2008
Pros: Been working great for years. Very fast tape rewind.
Cons: Kind of slow starting a disk, but fine once it's running.
Review: Seems all the reviews lately were negative with breakdowns, that's fair. But alot of people only write reviews because it brokedown. We have had ours for at least a few years and have had no issues. I bought it because our Panasonic HTIB dvd player quit ...

Hard to Program

by   wardnkathy ,  Jan 6, 2005
Pros: Will play a variety of disk formats including VCDs.
Cons: Programing VCR is hard.
The Bottom Line: This is okay if you want one a combo unit.
Review: I found the DVD/VRC easy to connect to my TV. It has a auto clock set feature that worked for me. This unit would work even on old TVs that only have a cable input. It comes with a universal remote control but its control would not control my ...

Sony SLV-D350P VCR DVD combo with bad remote

by   jvolzer ,  Sep 30, 2004
Pros: Name brand, digital out (coax)
Cons: Poor remote, no DVD to VHS copy capability
The Bottom Line: With the poor remote and no copy capabilities, there's no real reason to pay the extra money for this Sony vs. other brands.
Review: I had to replace a VCR that finally bit the dust and decided to get a combo unit. The Sony was a little more expensive than the others I looked at (Samsung and Philips) but I have a Sony Home Theatre system and like it. I also have a lot of home videos ...

I am dissapointed dvd disk does'nt eject at all

by   miami3456 ,  Jul 6, 2005
Pros: It works with all DVD formats that is the whole reason why i boughgt this
Cons: Open disk is slow and after loading the disk it takes little time.
Review: I am using this since 5 months, The only thing i liked about this player is i can play any type of DVD disk. And now after 5 months, the dvd disk inside the player is not at all ejecting, the parts are cheap parts. I press open and it toggles ...

I'm finished with everything Sony

by   dg2036 ,  Aug 2, 2005
Pros: The VCR side works well.
Cons: The DVD side gives me lots of trouble.
Review: I received the SLV-D350P as a Christmas gift and at first it ran fairly well. I did have some problems right away with it reading -R and +R discs though, but they were intermittent. As time has passed I am now having trouble with all types of discs. ...

Why did I try Sony again?

by   voban ,  May 9, 2006
Pros: Space saving, fast tape rewind
Cons: Extremely slow DVD loading, ejecting. Cumbersome remote, DVD sound stopped working after one year.
The Bottom Line: Do not buy. Sony seems to be getting lazy and cheap with their product quality overall.
Review: I have had terrible luck with DVD-VCR combos. The Sony SLV-D350P that I have now was a new unit that we got in exchange for a different brand combo that we had DVD problems with in April 2005. We had purchased a Best Buy warranty luckily in Jan. 2003 ...

sony blew it with this one

by   ddmcc5 ,  Nov 4, 2008
Pros: can't think of a pro at this point...
Cons: poor remote control design, poor mechanical design
Review: Sony failed miserably with this model. I usually trust that brand, but not anymore. The remote control is very poorly designed. After about the 8 month mark, the dvd tray seemed reluctant to open. 1 year later, the dvd tray wouldn't open at ...

Learned My Lesson

by   jke821 ,  Feb 14, 2006
Pros: Worked great for a few months.
Cons: Only worked for a few months.
Review: I had used the DVD/CD section maybe 30 hours when the sound suddenly quit (VCR section sound still works though). Had similiar bad luck with a Sony amplifier a few years back. Why pay 50% more for a name? The warranty isn't any better than the cheaper ...
