Author's Review
This is Sony's, and my, first DSLR. I have been using point-and-shoots my whole life and found that I had outgrown them all; I needed something with increased resolution, but also had enough features to let me grow as a photographer.
This camera did just that.
It's very, very, painfully easy to use straight away in auto mode where the only problem you may have is remembering to take the lens cap off. Outside of "auto" the camera gives you control over all aspects of the photo process, letting you customize the shot in almost any way you like. With my digital photography, I usually saturate and heighten the contrast on my shots, so selecting "Vivid" mode and increasing the contrast, the camera has now done all that for me.
Brilliant!
The camera has an extremely sturdy feel to it and has proven to be extremely reliable. I've owned it since it came out and have had zero problems.
One thing that I liked about this camera that I didn't care for so much on others was the menu system on the back screen that you use to navigate the camera's features, view photos, etc. The Sony menu system is very easy and user friendly, not to mention decent looking. I fount other camera menu systems to be just awful, complicated, or ugly.
The photos taken with this camera come out with brilliant color and quality. I've actually done poster-size prints that come out with fantastic detail.
This camera serves all my photographic needs perfectly and I plan to keep using it for as long as it will last.
