Product Review

The Sony STR-DE185

by   joel_moore1 ,   Apr 8, 2003

Pros:  30 station programmable. Remote. 100 total watts. Mega bass.

Cons:  No hookup for subwoofer. No hookup for phono.

The Bottom Line:  The Sony STR-DE185 is a great receiver. It'll be great for beginners to professionals.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

Sony is by far the best electronic producer in the world. Sony is known to make great audio components and the STR-DE185 is one of them. I was so amused on how a $150.00 receiver would cost. The sound from it is great. But, for all you bass lover out there, there is no hookup for a subwoofer. There is a solution for that, if you turn up the bass all the way, and have speakers that can handle the bass, and turn on the Mega Bass, you'll be fine. It's pretty loud too, 100 watts is stronger then I thought. The Sony STR-DE185 is a great audio component. I think it'll make a great first time receiver.
