Author's Review

I originally bought the SLV-R1000 because I was doing video editing and needed the S-video output. This is a nice unit but it's very pricey in todays VCR market. I doubt that this machine is for everyone there really isn't too much this can do that a unit that cost 1/10th of what this baby cost. Sure you get Sony quality. It has the cool fold down door and is built like a battle ship but heck it's only a VCR. This is a SVHS which stands for Super VHS. You have to buy special tapes to use this feature. The tapes cost around $10.00 each and offer a slightly higher resolution than the normal VHS tapes. If you don't want to use this feature you don't have to. There is a switch to go either way. The remote that came with mines has the three different frequencies that Sony uses for their machines. Just switch to 1,2,or 3. I just use this one to control my VCR, Camcorder and my Hi8mm machine that was a plus!
